On 5th February the Newid Housing Support service will have been officially operational for one year. A gathering was held on 13th January in ‘The Square’ in Seren’s new offices, to celebrate a successful first year with some of the people who they support.
Around 50 people, including Newid staff and representatives of Reach’s management team, joined in the celebrations and a good time was had by all. An amazing cake, produced by Reach member of staff Lisa Payne, went down a storm as did the raffle, thankfully goodbye to all that Christmas chocolate!
Since launching, the Newid service has increased the amount of people supported by 50%, with over 150 people now receiving support from the team. The service has made an amazing difference to people’s lives, with lots of fantastic feedback from the people supported and their families:
Sarah Lemin said “The Newid service is fantastic. They have helped me so much”.
Charles Hood said “Newid has made my life so much more easier given all the problems I have had to deal with”.
Peter French, Newid Housing Support Manager
“We are looking forward to another amazing year, working in partnering with Newport Supporting People to improve more people’s lives, protecting those people who are vulnerable and supporting them to broaden their horizons”.
