Reach’s radio star

A client of reach Supported Living, John Dale is overcoming his learning difficulties by presenting his own radio show at community radio and internet television station BRfm in Brynmawr.

BRfm station manager Pete Newman has been training and mentoring the 40-year-old from Abergavenny at the BRfm Lakeside Studios in Nantyglo;

Reach Supported Living got in touch with us to see if we could work with people with learning disabilities and we thought it would be a good idea for BRfm to try and help. John is doing a great job with the listeners reaction very enthusiastic! We have tried to give John independence – and it’s been great!’

John also has his own show on Able Radio which broadcasts over the internet from Pontypool;

“My dad used to work on hospital radio so I have always had an interest. Now I’ve had this opportunity at BRfm I feel as though I’m setting an example for people with learning difficulties. We are a family here and – thanks to Pete – I am gaining in confidence. ‘

John’s radio show is aired fortnightly during the evening on BRfm Community Radio broadcast on 97.3fm.
